Beauty Crush: 7 Tips To Make Your Skin Glow

Anyone else currently obsessed with skin care? I recently hopped back on the skin care train after being completely lazy and losing my routine. Here’s a little back story.

I had terrible acne that started around junior year of high school and peaked in my sophomore year of college. I tried every cleaner, exfoliating scrub, and magic gel there was and had zero results. Fast forward years later, I became a vegetarian and suddenly my skin cleared with only the occasional pimple here and there! So, I got LAZY. I stopped paying much attention to my skin then one day it hit me… ‘GIRL, YOU’VE GOTTA GET IT TOGETHER!’ Do you want to keep this skin glowing, or nah?

Well, you “better watch out for me. I’m about to GLOW!” I’ve finally landed on a few products and simple tips that have worked for me:

1. Drink More Water – I know, I know. Wine is so much more fun to drink, but trust me on this one! Drink more water and you’ll notice a difference in a couple of weeks.

2. Always Remove Your Makeup – Removing makeup can be a pain and sometimes feels like the last thing you want to do at the end of a long day but it doesn’t have to be. Invest in some makeup wipes and a good makeup remover oil to keep the process quick. 3. Find The Right Cleanser For You – I took recommendations from friends, saw a dermatologist, and spent a lot of money on different cleansers before I realized that there really is no one-size-fits-all cleanser. I finally settled on this cleanser and it’s been doing the trick for years. 4. Let Go Of The Dead Weight – Don’t be tempted to skip exfoliating! I typically exfoliate once or twice a week and I definitely notice my skin looking dull whenever I skip this step for too long. Here’s my pick to shop or check out this blog post to make your own.

5. Tone It Up – I used to shy away from toners because I didn’t really think they were necessary. I received a sample of this toner two years ago and haven’t looked back. I was so skeptical of the products that I took before and after pics to see if adding toner to my routine made a difference— my skin thanked me!  6. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize – Seal in that glow! My favorites right now are unscented raw shea butter, Tatcha water gel, and Plant Apothecary (formerly named OA Plant) superfacial oil. My combination skin left me a bit nervous about using the oil, but I’ve found it to be amazing to use at night during the winter months. 7. Grab A Mask – Facials are amazing and I highly recommend them. I also know they can be pricey! If you’re looking for an at home alternative between treatments then definitely consider trying out some masks. Here’s an awesome list of recipes to DIY your masks or check out my favorites here and here.

Yes, it’s definitely a process to find what works for you! I tend to use my Tatcha Water Gel as a light nighttime moisturizer and shea butter in the morning 🙂
