Martha’s Vineyard Highlights

I had to seriously check myself before heading to Martha’s Vineyard this year. I was complaining about everything: using up so much PTO from my new job, hating my braids after spending hours and good money on them, and the long trek to the island. There was a moment when I had to look at myself in the mirror (okay, really the front facing camera of my iPhone LOL) and tell myself to GET. IT. TOGETHER.

Traveling to Martha’s Vineyard has become the part of the year that I look forward to most and it would have been silly to let my own ridiculousness ruin the trip. So, I put on my happy face (even when that meant a delayed flight causing us to miss our connector flight and spend the night in the BOS airport) and settled in for the adventure!

We switched it up a bit this year. For starters, it was just the two of us, instead of a large group. We decided to stay in a hotel instead of a rental home, and we also found ourselves hitting fewer of the large scale events and doing more low key activities. During my first trip, I was constantly hopping to and from different parts of the island to soak it all in. Last year, I just wanted to look cute, eat all the things, and hang out on the beach. We definitely chilled a lot more this year and really enjoyed a week of slow living.

WHERE WE STAYED: The Sydney Hotel in Edgartown

I can’t wait to post my full review of the Sydney! The hotel was absolutely lovely and it was such a different experience staying in Edgartown. We previously stayed in Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs. While I think Vineyard Haven might have been my favorite part of the island to stay, Edgartown has unlimited charm, dining, and shopping to satisfy even the most hard to please traveler.

WHAT WE DID:

– SOAKED UP SOME CULTURE AT THE ART ON THE VINE CONTEMPORARY ART FAIr
 – DID WAY TOO MUCH SHOPPING AROUND EDGARTOWN
                                                 – SET SAIL ON THE SHENANDOAH WITH THE BLACK DOG CREW

– DINED AT SOME OF MY FAVORITE MV RESTAURANTS MENTIONED HERE
– PACKED A PICNIC AND SETTLED IN FOR THE ILLUMINATION NIGHT PERFORMANCES AND LIGHTING

– SPENT SOME TIME IN CHILMARK AND FINALLY GRABBED A BITE AT THE GENERAL STORE
– FOUND OUR WAY TO THE ANNUAL AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY FAIR IN WEST TISBURY

FAVORITE THINGS WE ATE:

– COCONUT “BACON” FROM NOT YOUR SUGAR MAMA’S
– A FALAFEL PITA AT NANCY’S
– AVOCADO TOAST AT BEHIND THE BOOKSTORE
– EGGPLANT TACOS AT BACKYARD TACO

– DAILY BREAKFAST AT THE SYDNEY [SEE my full review to understand why]
– TEMPURA VEGGIES AND EGG ROLLS AT THE AG FAIR
– VEGGIE BURGER AT THE NET RESULT

Until next year, MV!

I’m from New England originally and I still haven’t been to Martha’s Vineyard! It’s on my list for this summer. 🙂 That boutique hotel is gorgeous. I’ll need to check them out.
