2019 Resolution: Stop Playing Small

SHOP the coat. the bag. the sunnies. the lipstick in ‘rebel’. the necklace

I was so shocked and excited by your reactions to last year’s resolution post that I decided to share my resolution again this year! One thing that’s become really clear to me over the past year is that I have a tendency to play small in many areas of my life. Meaning, I’ve talked myself out of going after certain blog opportunities, convinced myself that the life I ultimately want is impossible, and allowed the insecurities of others to leave me downplaying the things that are great about my life (including the crap things that I’m proud to have overcome). Anyone else guilty?

2019 Resolution: Stop Playing Small

Well, let’s all just agree to stop. Mkay? Put in the work and go after that promotion! Stop telling yourself that you don’t have time to commit to your health and fitness! Fail fast, adjust, and keep working towards your goals!

SECURE. EVERY. SINGLE. BAG.

Here are a few things I plan to act on to remind myself to stop playing small:

  • Seek more personal and professional development opportunities
  • Network with more bloggers (msg me to connect!)
  • Share, share, share my blog with others
  • Practice mindfulness in movement, eating habits, organization, and how I speak to myself
  • Make a list of my blog goals and share them (list coming soon!)
  • Remember to ask for help when needed
  • Focus on the benefits of working out instead of how difficult workouts can be

A few ways we can plan to achieve our goals together:

  • Take each goal and get specific enough that they become S.M.A.R.T. (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely) goals
  • Figure out how much time is needed to achieve each goal and plan for it
  • Create a support system by sharing goals with our circles
  • Remember that any progress is progress

I love your resolution! I often get intimidated by rejection or fear of rejection, but if I keep trying, I’m more likely to get the results I want.

This post really hits home for me. Not only am I afraid of taking on big things that I don’t feel “good enough” for, I also constantly downplay the many strifes I have been through growing up. People’s jaws constantly drop when I explain the kind of life I’ve led, but I’ve always shrugged it off because I know other people have it so much worse, but that’s not a nice thing to do to myself. What I went through was still hard, and I deserve to feel proud of myself for coming out the other side a better and happier person. Good luck with acting ‘bigger’ in 2019!

Love this! It’s so crazy that it always takes the start of a new year for us all to get back on track and focused on better habits isn’t it?! I’m totally on board with all of your goals as well!

Thanks for sharing your resolutions! Starting a blog over the last month has definitely forced me to come out of my introvert bubble. There are some ways I am still holding myself back so thanks for the encouragement!
