Happy New Year!
I always get so excited for a new year. I have absolutely zero patience for people who laugh off folks who choose to make resolutions or smaller changes for the new year. If you’re feeling ‘new year, new me‘ then go for it and don’t let anyone talk you out of it, including YOU.
I can honestly say that 2016 was the year of EVERYTHING. I had a lot of firsts: first love, first trip to San Francisco, finally my first Kanye show, first trip to Martha’s Vineyard, and so much more!
Prepare for photo overload as I take you through my life in 2016 according to my iPhone.
I received a flight deal alert for D.C. and immediately called my friend to see if those dates worked for a visit. Luckily they did and I had the best time!
First Georgetown Cupcakes visit with desserts almost too pretty to eat.
My friend graciously went along with me when I suggested Korean for lunch at Zannchi. I’m so glad he did. It was amazing!
Macarons are life. This is not up for debate! I was so excited to find 17Berkshire baking up macaroons, cakes, and other custom treats right here in Memphis, TN. Here is a a peak inside the box I picked up during one of her pop ups.
I said yes to being a bridesmaid for my friend Anjelica and experienced the weekend of a lifetime in Atlanta for her bachelorette weekend. I can’t tell you anything besides what you see in the Instax…
We went through enough cases of Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut that weekend to inspire what you see in the Instax pics above.
Walking on the Spelman campus left me questioning some life choices. Even on a random Friday afternoon the campus was vibrant and packing with some incredible fashion. I popped into the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art to view Black Chronicles II.
Me with the bride. Isn’t she fab?
They had the loveliest ceremony and reception.
Spending a week on Martha’s Vineyard was definitely my highlight of 2016!
Lots of weekend trips to Nashville were in order last year.
I lucked out with being able to see Fragments and a Game of Chance at David Lusk Gallery- Nashville then walking next door to Dozen Bakery for coffee.
Coffee turned into coffee and multiple chocolate chip cookies.
My first visit to Sunflower Cafe in Nashville was a game changer! The menu is completely vegan (** they’ve added cheese options) and completely delicious. I had the BBQ warp with bhan mi toppings, sweet potatoes, and greens.
Is anyone else super guilty of just trying to let a birthday pass and pretend it isn’t happening? I either want to celebrate my birthday like it’s last day or do absolutely nothing. Luckily, I struck a happy medium by having brunch with a few friends at Ecco.
My job sent me to San Francisco and I couldn’t have been more excited! It was my first visit there and although I spent most of it working it was a nice change of scenery. I can’t wait to back!
Obligatory San Francisco trip airport pic. My jacket is old but here is a similar one. My monogrammed tote can be found here.
You guys, I found Tom Dixon candles and I am absolutely OBSESSED. My favorite scents are Air and Earth. Yes, I count this as a highlight of my year. I LOVE candles.
We celebrated my love’s birthday with a 17Berkshire cake, gin and juice bar, more balloons than could reasonably fit in my car, and awesome friends.
I miss the twists I had earlier in the year. They were so easy and the perfect answer to lack of hair styling skills and lack of desire to acquire any.
I feel lucky to have experienced a ton of art around Memphis. From Spectacular Vernacular to Sweet x Brantley Ellzey and the Young Collectors Contemporary.
Say what you want about Kanye but don’t do it around me! Finally catching him in concert was a long time coming and it was an experience worth the wait.
I unintentionally ended up looked like a part of one of Kanye’s fashion shows. LOL
Gizelle | Blueprint Glitz hosted a Memphis Blogger Meetup in October. I felt a bit like an impostor since my site hadn’t gone live, but I ended up meeting some really awesome creatives!
The Inaugural 40 Under 40 event was a night to remember! It was really incredible to see the hard work of so many young professionals in Memphis be honored.

Cheers to more good times in 2017!
