The start of a new year means we’re all bombarded with social media posts from friends declaring, “New year, new me!” and I used to be annoyed about it—no more!
Who am or (or you) to be annoyed by others seeing the new year as a chance for a fresh start? Don’t we all sometimes need one? Cliche or not, I am all about practicing being more mindful, more present, and working to just be a little better each day.
I didn’t make a list of resolutions this year because I am notorious for breaking them. However, I did make one to promise to myself: Do more of what makes you happy! For me that means taking better care of my body through recommitting to fitness, registering for a few workshops and conferences to keep gaining #girlboss skills, and working to be comfortable with my authentic self.
Well, my authentic self saw this pink coat and actually screamed. My little heart was broken to find it immediately sold out, but I kept tabs on the site for restocks and THERE. IT. WAS. Then there I was trying to talk myself out of buying just before adding it to my cart. What if I look silly? What if people think I’m ridiculous? What I look like a big cotton candy puff?
I’m happy to report that I ordered the coat and felt a bit silly, but didn’t care what people thought, and yes, I did indeed look like a giant cotton candy. Mission accomplished!
